Free RSV Immunisation for Babies

RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is a common virus in autumn and winter that can cause serious illness in young babies. The HSE is offering free RSV immunisation to protect eligible babies this winter.

Who is eligible at our practice?

Babies born between 1 March and 31 August 2026 can receive their RSV immunisation here with one of our practice nurses. Babies born between 1 September 2026 and 28 February 2027 will usually be offered it in the maternity hospital before going home.

The immunisation is a single dose of an antibody called nirsevimab, which gives your baby immediate protection. It can be given safely alongside routine childhood vaccines.

Parents can book at any time over the coming months, but the earlier the better, so your baby is protected before RSV season peaks.
