Private Repeat Prescription Request

Prescriptions are typically issued during an in person consultation and a plan is put in place for repeat prescription requests. If it has been more than 6 months since you have consulted your doctor or you are taking medications that require blood-test monitoring and/or a blood pressure check, we may advise you by text or email that a consultation is necessary before your repeat prescription can be issued safely.

Please allow 48 hours for the prescription to be sent to your pharmacy.

Repeat prescriptions are covered for medical card and doctor visit card patients.

Every time a doctor sends a repeat prescription they review the medications, review that the patient is up to date on bloods/check ups that are necessary for the particular medications and ensure there are no new drug interactions for medications that may have been started elsewhere for example in the hospital.

There is a standard fee for a private patient’s repeat prescription with their GP.

This takes time and expertise, hence the requirement to charge a fee.
